The Advisory Committee on Increasing Competitive Integrated Employment for Individuals with Disabilities, established under section 609 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended by section 461 of the Workforce Investment and Opportunities Act (WIOA), has released a draft Interim Report.

Department of Labor (DOL) Secretary Tom Perez recently partnered with two state governors to send a letter to governors urging them to adopt Employment First policy. Secretary Perez, Governor Jack Markell (D-DE), and Governor Dennis Daugaard (R-SD) signed the letter encouraging all fifty states to “press on in the unrelenting pursuit of innovative approaches and effective tools for breaking down barriers to the mainstream workforce for unemployed and under employed Americans, especially those with disabilities.”
