PUBLIC NOTICE AND REQUEST FOR COMMENT

The Wyoming Workforce Development Council is seeking public comment on a draft of a new Unified State Plan (Plan) Wyoming is required to submit under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA). The Plan ensures compliance with Public Law 113-128.  Comments are sought by March 31, 2016.

WIOA amends the Workforce Investment Act of 1998 to strengthen the United States’ workforce development system through innovation in, and alignment and improvement of, employment, training, and education programs in the United States. It is intended to promote national economic growth.

WIOA brings together the following programs: employment and training services for adults, dislocated workers and youth; Wagner-Peyser employment services; adult education and literacy programs; and Vocational Rehabilitation state grant programs that assist individuals with disabilities in obtaining employment.

A copy of the draft Plan is available for public inspection online atwyowdc.wyo.gov.   Hard copies of the Plan will be made available for review at local Department of Workforce Services, Workforce Centers.  In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, special assistance or alternate formats will be made available upon request.

Chief elected officials, businesses, labor organizations, institutions of higher education, primary stakeholders and the general public are encouraged to provide comment.  Comments should be made in writing and must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. on March 31, 2016to DWS-WIOA@wyo.gov or mailed to the attention of Laurie Knowlton at 614 South Greeley Highway, Cheyenne, Wyoming 82002.

Aattached is a document that highlights the Disability Integration Act presented by Senator Charles E. Schumer. In addition, if passed as is, the legislation provides states with a 5% Federal Medical Assistance Percentage (FMAP).

The Social Security Administration (SSA) has issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) seeking a contractor to implement and evaluate an Early Intervention Mental Health Demonstration Study (EIMHDS). Responses are due by December 7, 2015 at 11:00 AM EST.
